But then I got curious about Seren\u2019s best friend E\u2014and from there, it snowballed into The Constellation series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Something similar happened with&nbsp;<em>Forged in Deception<\/em>, just on a much deeper level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019d just written&nbsp;<em>A Question of Sincerity<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>A Question of Courage<\/em>&nbsp;and wanted to do something different\u2014a standalone with a bit more going on than just romance. Around that time, Tina Turner\u2019s&nbsp;<em>Thief of Hearts<\/em>&nbsp;kept playing in my head, and that\u2019s where the first spark came from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I didn\u2019t expect was how far this story would take me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Forged in Deception<\/em>&nbsp;ended up opening the door to two more books\u2014<em>The Weight of the Fall<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>In Pieces<\/em>\u2014and I completely fell in love with these characters along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Penelope, for example, can \u201ctaste\u201d colors. I added that early on because I found the idea fascinating. Only later did I realize how perfectly it fit the story I was telling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the part of writing I still don\u2019t fully understand\u2014how certain choices seem to guide everything that comes after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All I know is that this series has been an absolute joy to write, and I\u2019ve never been this excited to share a world with readers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Forged in Deception<\/em>\u00a0is available now at the Ylva shop.
